The School Directors – Uniquely Involved and Available
Our administrators play a vital role in the Nexus Academy learning model. Much like our teachers and Success Coaches, our administrators are involved in day-to-day schoolwork and activities and are available at all times to help learners. In fact, our principals and assistants keep themselves highly approachable by working in an open “no office” setting to stay in close touch with our blended-learning students.
Our principal is a caring professional educator devoted to hands-on leadership, assisting with everything from touring prospective learners around our school to personally checking in with individual students on their progress. Our administrative assistant welcomes our learners on campus every day and keeps our school organized. Together, they’re an integral part of our unique, supportive learning environment that our learners rely on to help them succeed every day.
Meet Jamie Brady
Principal, Nexus Academy of Indianapolis
Jamie Brady began pursuing a career in education as a student at Indiana University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. Upon graduating, she immediately began her career as a fourth grade teacher. She continued to serve as a member of the teaching staff for eight years. While she held that position, Ms. Brady had the opportunity to coach fourth and fifth grade boys’ and girls’ basketball teams. She led five of those teams to earn City Championship titles. Two other teams came close, ending their seasons as City Runner-Up. Another of her many teaching accomplishments was piloting and implementing the district-wide READ 180 Scholastic reading program.
Ms. Brady knew that she was destined to become a school leader. She went on to complete both her master’s degree and the Principal Licensure Program at Indiana Wesleyan University, after which time she began her career as a school administrator. Since then, Ms. Brady has continued to grow and evolve as an educational leader. She has received numerous awards and recognitions, including a Minorities in Leadership grant and an Above and Beyond the Call of Duty award. Ms. Brady now brings her seven years of school leadership experience and seventeen years of overall educational experience to Nexus Academy of Indianapolis.
Ms. Brady is supported at home by her husband of thirteen years and two beautiful children. During the summer months, you may have caught the whole gang on campus helping Mom hang banners and settle into the new space. Although Ms. Brady no longer coaches youth basketball, she still enjoys being in the gym and watching her own children play.
Ms. Brady says that at Nexus Academy, “We are very, very driven to give 21st century learners an alternative to the traditional desk, paper, pencil, and chalkboard education.” She says that this style of education is “long overdue” and that she is excited to bring this technology-driven schooling option to the city of Indianapolis.
